MISSION STATEMENT:  (SHORT)

THE REINSTITUTE  RESEARCH ARCHIVE & LIBRARY operates as a record of affects and histories surrounding research base artist’s practices. The archive will provide a breadth of resources, as we continue an active dialogue regarding empirical and theoretical approaches to the Self-Organized - as a site for counter-narratives of resistance and solidarity.

(FULL)

THE REINSTITUTE  RESEARCH ARCHIVE & LIBRARY  ( AFFECT AS ARCHIVE/ ARCHIVE AS AFFECT ) will include a mini-archive of ephemera from artists and independent curators,  literature regarding the Self-Organized practice, and assorted materials related to alternative models for art education, exhibition, and programming.  This archive presents a unique opportunity to further contextualize and contribute to one of the the most influential methods of contemporary cultural production, The Self-Organized Practice. We understand the archive, much like the Self-Organized Practice itself, as a site for counter-narratives of resistance and solidarity. The archive operates as a record of affects and histories and typically excluded from the institutional archive, and in that way often inaccessible to us as artists and historians.

GUEST SPOT @ THE REINSTITUTE explores and champions new methods of sustaining livelihoods of artists, scholars, and other creatives through solidarity practices and Self-Organized Initiatives.  Our approach examines hierarchical influence, prioritizing an Open Participatory model of peer decision-making, and promoting solidarity as an artistic principle.
